Genus Sedum
Stonecrop Family (Crassulaceae)

Stonecrop plant growing from crack between rocks

(Sedum debile)

This is a very low-growing plant -- only about 6 inches tall or less. It grows on dry gravelly mountain ridges, or from crevices between rocks. The leaves are gray-green in color, and are thick and succulent to help store moisture for the plant.

The flowers are bright yellow, with 5 petals. They are small -- less than 1/2 inch across, but there are usually many of them growing in dense clusters at the top of the plant.
